A Hybrid Workplace for the Video-First Era

LOD Construction delivered a full interior buildout of approximately 7,000 square feet for Zoom's New York City office at 275 Madison Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The space was designed as a modern, collaboration-focused workplace built to support Zoom's hybrid work model — a place where in-office and remote team members can connect seamlessly.

The completed office features open lounges designed for informal collaboration, conference rooms of varying sizes — from intimate huddle rooms to a full boardroom with dual-display setups — private phone booth pods for focused calls, a full kitchen and social area that serves as the office's gathering point, and open-plan workstation zones designed for flexibility.

What We Built

The project required a complete transformation of the existing space into a technology-forward workplace that reflects Zoom's brand identity while creating a genuinely inviting environment for a team that has the option to work from anywhere. Every room was designed with both in-person and virtual collaboration in mind.

Key deliverables included:

• Complete demolition of existing conditions and full build-out
• New MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems throughout
• Polished concrete flooring across all work zones and circulation areas
• Exposed and painted ductwork for an industrial-modern ceiling aesthetic
• Custom glass partitions for conference rooms and meeting spaces
• Integrated AV systems with dual-display conference setups in every meeting room
• Digital room booking panels at each conference room entrance
• Branded color accents throughout — teal, coral, and green elements that reinforce Zoom's visual identity
• Biophilic design elements including hanging planters, potted greenery, and natural materials
• Private phone booth pods for focused individual work and calls
• Full kitchen build-out with custom cabinetry and stainless steel appliances

Challenge

Technology-Forward in Every Room

The core challenge of the Zoom office was integrating enterprise-grade AV and video conferencing infrastructure into every meeting space — seamlessly. As the company that defined modern video communication, Zoom's own office needed to be a showcase for their technology. This meant every conference room required carefully planned sight lines, acoustics, lighting, and display positioning to optimize the video meeting experience.

Dual-display setups, ceiling-mounted cameras, integrated speaker systems, and digital room booking panels had to be woven into the architecture rather than bolted on as afterthoughts. LOD coordinated closely with Zoom's technology team and AV integrators to ensure that infrastructure — power, data, conduit routing — was built into the walls and ceilings from the earliest stages of construction, not retrofitted later.

The result is an office where technology feels invisible — it simply works — while the spaces themselves feel warm, human, and designed for actual collaboration rather than performative office culture.

LOD Construction delivered the Zoom NYC office on schedule and on budget, creating a hybrid workplace that gives people a genuine reason to come into the office. From the open lounge where teams gather informally to the boardroom where global meetings happen across dual displays, every space was built with purpose.

The branded color accents — teal conference walls, coral seating, green kitchen cabinetry — create visual energy without overwhelming the space. Hanging planters and potted greenery bring life to the polished concrete and exposed ductwork. It's industrial without being cold, branded without being a theme park.

The project demonstrates LOD's ability to deliver technology-intensive commercial office buildouts where AV integration, acoustic performance, and design aesthetics work together seamlessly.
